Super view, super slow. I always say don't expect great service and food if the view is spectacular and that's what it was. They were not very busy (sunday in fall) so we sat outside with some view of canyon. took forever to get a waitress, I ordered a Jim Beam on the rocks - got a Gin with a coffee bean on the rocks :) (think she had a hard time with my mid-western accent) Had an "nacho" - expensive, strange and small. This was at best, a two star but I give it an extra star for the location.

Quick and simple appetizers and drinks for those looking for food in grand canyon without a reservation. We had cocktails and shared a meal of appetizers.

Great tenderloin chilil, (We had this in the bar area the first night) The main dining room is a bit more formal for diner but still rated as causual. The waiters were very proffesional. There were four people caring for our table of 10 guests. The meals were pricey but fantastic. This is a nice restaraunt. The menu items were created for presentatiion, taste and unique experience. The price is high but is fair for the excellent quality and variety. I have been several times and have felt great about the experience each time. This is a special restaurant in a special place. Spoil yourself, it is worth it.

We visited the El Tovar Lounge twice over the course of two days. Right before dinner, it gets crowded, so we arrived a little earlier. Service is very good. The bartenders are very friendly as was the other staff. Not wanting to drink while hungry, we ordered some Navajo Nachos and the seasoned Steak Fries. Both items were very good and served within a reasonable time limit. Due to some medications, I had to have zero alcohol Odouls beer which was ok. My wife had draft GC Pilsner. Both were served in cold glasses which is great. The noise level is ok but dependent upon who is there. During our two visits, it was quiet. The Lounge has a large window looking out into the Grand Canyon---great view to have a drink by. There is also outside seating available with full service.

We ate here twice, breakfast and lunch and have to say that the food was really good. The staff is very friendly but were a little overwhelmed at times. The ambiance is very rustic and appropriate for the location. We highly recommend this restaurant.

these workers are not friendly at all. I was scared to ask for anything. and when I asked for a straw the man brought it over to me with an angry look on his face and shoved it in my drink with his bare (most probably) dirty hands. and the food was okay quality, and all came at the same time

Really nice lounge. Not sure fancy, but gets the job done with drinks in your hand and a view of the Canyon. If you can't get into the restaurant, this is your next best step to saying you've been served at the El Tovar. I wish that I go to try their desserts, but I was just too full from whatever I had that day. The chocolate moose called out to me and the lemon cream brulee. Arugh...mouth watering.

I was here last week for breakfast right after seeing the awesome canyon sunset and I gotta say my breakfast was slammin. I ordered scrambled eggs w/ bacon and potatoes and everything was cooked perfectly. Not over done or too crispy. Just perfect. My friends dish was also cooked well. This may be silly but the grapefruit juice they use is great too! Or maybe I just havent drank that in a while. My server (ahh I forgot his name) was also very courteous and there was always someone right there to fill up our waters even if we took a mini sip. Also the location is just amazing and on a cold morning after watching the sunrise, the fireplace sitting location was sweet. Makes me miss AZ.

We went to this place to take a short rest. There is a great view near the window. We ordered hot chocolate and coffee and relaxed a bit from sightseeing. The service was attentive. The ambiance was nice. I would come here again to take a break and enjoy the view.

To start, the food near The Grand Canyon isn't as ooh ah as the park itself. I didn't find anything here that blew me away. This place was a genuine disappointment. To drink, I had the hot chocolate, which was thin and watery. The nachos were strange. The chips were greasy and I don't even know what they were. Definitely not tortilla chips, fried something's. The Parmesan fries were terrible. I could tell they were previously frozen, because they weren't cooked through enough and the middle was cold. The accompanying garlic aioli tasted mostly like a lot mayonnaise with just a scent of garlic. Horrible experience here.

Nice little lounge at the lodge in the Grand Canyon. The only lounge with a view.

Great and terrible. Great - the drinks and the staff. If you come here strictly to visit the "lounge" you have come to the right place. The drinks are refreshing, the staff is friendly and the view is great. Small round lounge tables are abundant and that part is perfect. Terrible - Do not, I repeat, DO NOT order food. It sucks and is overpriced. We ordered the nachos, wings and chips and salsa. Nachos had strange chips (not tortilla) which were very greasy. Wings were not good - if you want some spice get the hot...if you want good, don't order them (or anything else). Chips and salsa had the smallest ramekin of salsa you can imagine next to a large order of chips. There was so much to be desired we were glad all we stopped at 3 appetizers and didn't waste further money on entrees next door. Bottom line - drink a drink in your room. drink one at el tovar lounge, then walk next door to eat.

For being in the Grand Canyon area, this place is the best. The views are unbeatable. The food was pretty good, but the service is what really made this place standout amongst the other restaurants in the area. The wait staff was so so nice. For appetizers we had the soup of the day - cream of chicken- and the French onion soup. Yummy! Then for dinner, my dad ordered the pork chops and I ordered the chicken piccata. Both were good. I wanted to do the penne but decided if I wanted to get dessert, better not do the pasta. And then dessert was by far the best part. We both had coffee, ice cream, and the apple streusel pie. It was amazing. If you're staying in the Grand Canyon area, this is a must. Pricey, but it's worth it. You'll see what I mean after going to the other places around here.

The "Only" place to eat in The Grand Canyon! Lovely service, good food and wonderful views out and over the vistas of this magical place!

Sadly, this is not what you would expect from a grand old Fred Harvey lodge. Its charm has been somewhat reduced by poor updates (updated crummy carpet) There are only two tables at the small wndows which odn't hav emuch of a view. The food was just OK, we got a couple appertizers that were ploddingly generic. Its worth a stop becasue its historic, but in toto, its a pretty average expereince.

Sometimes I want to go, where everybody knows my name, and I know their names for reputable reasons! I have loved the El Tovar Lounge, it's excellent staff, and fabulous appetizer menu, for a bit over a decade. It loves me back! I love an excuse to dress up and head over to the ET for a bit of romance with the hubby, cocktails with the ladies, or celebratory drinks with friends! The staff here is top notch, and the wine, beer and bar liquor selection is pretty good. It is a bit expensive compared to the outside world, but on par for this locale. Last winter my father visited me during a major snow storm. We had over two feet of snow on the ground, with all roads leading away from the park closed. Other than our mega- hike into the canyon, all our side trips were exchanged for time in the lounge. We had so much fun in here chatting with other snow bound folks. There was even a man that said he visits every year in the winter, and claimed that, Kathy, the bar manager, was the best bartender in the world. I did not disagree with him, as she has taken good care of me, over the years, and makes a mean Margarita! (Try the prickly pear!) My father is now a fan as well! I also love the bartenders Lisa and Robby (whom make me smile and laugh), and cocktail waitress, Joleen, whom is adorable, and gives great new drink recommendations! My only complaint is that the Tequila selection is just adequate. Come on Xanterra aka Grand Canyon Lodges, this is the wild West! 6 hours to Me-hee-co! Give us some better regional selections! I look forward to updating this review to compliment your Tequila options! As for food: Hubby loves Chef Matt's wings, I love the Calamari, and we both enjoy the Salmon Bruchetta and Tenderloin Chili. Nuuuuuuuuuuuum! Tips: **Great view of the Canyon form the outdoor porch and most seats in the bar, so look inside that newspaper you get at the gate "The Guide" for sunset times and plan accordingly! It is easier to get an outdoor seat in the warm season WELL before or a bit after sunset. ***Also, if you can only get your El Tovar Dining Room Reservations for 9:45pm, check in a bit earlier with the host/hostess and have some apps in the bar. If all goes well, you will be seated a bit earlier, and if it does not go well, you still get to have the calamari, which is not served in the dining room!

VERY EXPENSIVE! I expected better quality food. I was not impressed at all. The only good thing was the service.

It's a nice and cozy retreat. A little overpriced, but certainly a lovely view.

After watching the sunrise from Yaki Point I caught a shuttle into the village for breakfast at El Tovar. At that hour it wasn't too busy yet, and I was able to snag a table near both a window (canyon view) and the fireplace. The atmosphere was relaxing and the entire wait staff very attentive. I selected the Pancakes and Eggs Breakfast, which was delicious. Definitely recommend.

Nice place to stop for lunch while at the Grand Canyon. The view from the lounge was wonderful and the staff were friendly. I did think it was a little overpriced, especially as we didn't order anything fancy for lunch, but everyone found something they liked and it was cooked/prepared as requested.

Relax with a great selection of drinks, snacks and a view that can't be bear! Try the Cactus Lemonade made with prickly pear syrup. Killer. You can get the prickly pear syrup in gift shop!

Ate breakfast here. Very good stuff, trio pancakes, eggs benedict, good hot chocolate! This hotel is very cool, 100 year old charm. Makes you feel a bit like you stepped back in time. I could see how this would have been the best at the time. Service was great, they placed us by a window with a great view of the canyon! Server was sweet, she explained everything and found us 20 mins after we left to give us our gloves we left behind! Can't say anything about the rooms as we didn't stay there (stayed at another lodge), but walking around it you can find many places to sit and chill as you look at the canyon. It was freezing so didn't sit much.

It's a must while traveling at the Grand Canyon. I stopped by during the late afternoon after hiking Bright Angel trail. A 20 oz local draft beer, Grand Canyon Horseshoe pale ale beer ($5.50) and Navajo nachos($8.75) were spectacular. The lounge window is within about a hundred feet of the Grand Canyon Rim. Where can you look out a lounge window, have a drink, and take in the canyon views? It's a historical building built in 1905, and still in it's original condition. It was original called the Harvey House. out of all the GC bars, this is the best. Enjoy!

Slow service, light drink, and so so food. This is a place that is ok to miss. Nearby choices are a lot better.
